What's Next?

The Los Angeles based new music collective What’s Next? was created in the spring of 2008 with the single mission of bringing together talented young musicians to perform exciting new music. Formed by two friends and fellow students at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, John Stulz andVimbayi Kaziboni, the collective has humble roots, focused mainly on contemporary music outreach concerts within the USC community. At the beginning of 2009, What’s Next? launched The Los Angeles Composers Project, an endeavor to bring talented young musicians from across the country together in a festival setting with Los Angeles based composers. With three concerts scheduled for mid-June, this will be the collective’s most ambitious project to date and will set the groundwork for a sustained effort to connect young musicians with the wealth of compositional talent and ideas circulating in Los Angeles today. In May 2010 the group will present the second Los Angeles Composers Project, featuring special guest artists the Los Angeles Percussion Quartet.
